About Pilates
Pilates is a mindful movement method that focuses on strength, control, alignment, and breath. It was created in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, a passionate innovator who believed that precise, intentional movement was the key to a healthy body and a balanced mind.
Born in Germany, Joseph Pilates developed his method while working with injured soldiers and performers, drawing on his background in gymnastics, boxing, and anatomy. He was dedicated - almost obsessive - about the details of movement, designing exercises and equipment that encouraged the body to work efficiently, safely, and with purpose. His approach wasn’t about speed or intensity; it was about quality over quantity and learning how to move well for life.
Today, Pilates is practiced around the world, helping people build strength, improve posture, move with control, and feel more connected to their bodies - just as Joseph intended.
