Our Instructors

Image of Gem Pilates Studio experienced Pilates instructor.

Shae's love of movement began with dance, spending many years training and later teaching at ballet and performing arts studios across Melbourne. After experiencing her own lower back pain, she discovered Pilates in 2002, when dedicated Pilates studios were still few and far between. The difference it made was immediate and life-changing, inspiring her to become a qualified Pilates instructor.

She completed her first Pilates qualification in 2005 through the Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA), an 18-month comprehensive rehabilitation-focused course combining theoretical study with extensive clinical experience. Since then, Shae has taught in a variety of private Pilates studios across Melbourne while continuing to expand her knowledge through ongoing professional development, with a strong focus on injury rehabilitation and safe, effective movement.

In 2016, Shae completed a Bachelor of Primary Education at Deakin University and now spends two days each week teaching Physical Education. She loves helping children develop confidence through movement and encouraging them to understand and care for their growing bodies.

After more than 20 years of teaching, learning and refining her approach, Shae is thrilled to bring her own Pilates studio to the Gembrook community. Her goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where everyone feels supported to move with confidence, build strength and balance, and enjoy the process along the way.
